Service to the Yakima Tennis Community
Franklin Middle School Tennis Court Repair
YCTA, the City of Yakima's Parks and Recreation Department, and the USTA - Pacific Northwest teamed up together to improve the tennis facilities in one of Yakima's favorite locations. YCTA was awarded a Community Tennis grant from USTA-PNW, received a committment for matching funds from the City of Yakima and contributed $1000 of its own money to fund this project. Under the able leadership of YCTA's Director of Tennis, Eric Robbins, and with help from club members Jeff Brantner and Margaret Haines, the project was completed this October. Hugh cracks were cleaned out, filled, topcoated, and painted, the backboard was cleaned and repainted, and eventually several of the nets will be replaced. This project is another example of the role YCTA plays in enhancing tennis for the entire community.

Huge cracks, sometimes 6 inches wide were repaired.

The backboard now has a new coat of paint.

Some cracks, like this repaired one, ran right down the middle of the courts, making the court unplayable.
